New York-based Percussionist Maiko Hosoda has a great passion for playing new music. She collaborates with many composers and productions in NYC including “Adams run” by Rhymes with Opera, "Beloved Prey" by The Traveling Opera, "Let's Enact Silence: John Cage in Context" at Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Ensemble Mise-en, Ensemble 212 and others.

She performs internationally as a member of Beyond Borders Percussion Sextet, debuting in Eindhoven, Netherland, and MusiTravel in Tokyo, Japan.

 

As an educator, she has trained extensively in Carl-Orff Schulwerk and Dalcroze Eurhythmics and she utilizes these methods in both her playing and teaching. She teaches and has taught at numerous early education musical schools and will appear as an instructor in Japan Orff-Schulwerk workshop in the summer of 2016.

  

Maiko was born in Manchester, UK and raised in Yokohama, Japan. She earned a Bachelor’s degree at Keio University (Tokyo, Japan) in Aesthetics, a Master’s degree in music from Mannes College The New School for Music, and a Professional Study Diploma in Music from Mannes College The New School for Music, graduating with the Mannes Orchestral Performance Award.
